Prairie Public’s “Prairie Mosaic” television series has been honored at the 44th annual Telly Awards.
Nelda Schrupp: Jewelry Artist is the Bronze Telly Winner in the Television-Information category. The six-minute video shows how Schrupp, of Lakota, North Dakota, creates her one-of-a-kind jewelry and sculpture designs—which are inspired by the rattle, a sacred object used in spiritual ceremonies.
The International Peace Gardens is the Bronze Telly Winner in the Television-Travel/Tourism category. The seven-minute video tours the International Peace Gardens, which has been a living symbol of the peaceful relationship between The United States and Canada since 1922, and the International Music Camp. This and the Schrupp feature were supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Pat Kruse: Birch Bark Artist has won the Bronze Telly in the Television-Cultural category. This six-minute video introduces Kruse, a birchbark and quill artist who lives on the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Reservation. The feature was supported by the Minnesota Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment—which provides funding to public television stations serving audiences in Minnesota.
